Vy Nguyễn - Pilates Instructor
Contact CoachI didn’t start Pilates out of passion-it was because of... back pain. Seriously! While studying abroad in Canada, I was juggling multiple jobs in the hospitality industry. The demanding schedule took a toll on my health, especially my lower back, to the point where I needed medical treatment. A doctor recommended I try Pilates, so I began with mat classes, simply hoping to ease the pain. But to my surprise, not only did the pain go away-my body felt like it had come back to life, quite literally.
That experience led me to explore Pilates more seriously. I started training at studios and eventually became a certified mat Pilates instructor in Canada, all while continuing my work in hospitality. After graduation, I made the full switch to the fitness field and completed my equipment Pilates training at Merrithew’s headquarters.
To me, Pilates is a form of healing-a way to listen to the body and rediscover a deep connection with oneself. It’s not flashy or loud; just small, intentional movements that bring about a profound, unmistakable sense of awareness from within.
Personal Milestones:
Through my own journey of health recovery, I came to realize that Pilates is not only a method for improving physical well-being, but also a gateway to a deeper understanding of movement and the human body. Being formally trained at Merrithew’s headquarters in Canada and gaining hands-on experience working in studios abroad has given me a solid foundation in therapeutic Pilates-especially in the ability to connect with, activate, and strengthen the smaller, often-overlooked muscle groups.
Coaching Achievements:
I’ve worked with a wide range of clients aged 30 to 70, including pre- and postnatal women, office workers with neck, shoulder, and back pain, and individuals experiencing lower back or knee issues.
Most of them turn to Pilates as a supportive method for rehabilitation and body reshaping. With consistent practice-typically 3 to 4 sessions per week-clients often begin to notice clear changes within just 1 to 2 months: improved posture, stronger core engagement, and smoother, more fluid movement.
In addition, I also support athletes-such as golfers, badminton players, and runners-who use Pilates to balance muscle groups, aid recovery, and enhance performance.
